NOTICE 
ATTENTION PARENTS/STUDENTS OF LEE COUNTY SCHOOLS
Students or Parents of Students who were evaluated AND/OR received services through Lee County Schools' special education program and were born during the years of 1999-2017 are hereby notified that these records will be pulled from our files and destroyed by June 30, 2025 (2 weeks after last notice).

Records to be destroyed include:

Students who received special education services but have had NO activity within the past five (5) years or longer**
Students who were evaluated for special education services but had NO activity within the past five (5) years or longer**
**This includes students who moved away from Lee County five (5) years ago or longer, or students who were tested for special education services but were determined ineligible five (5) years ago or longer.

Special education records may be needed for Social Security benefits, Disability, Insurance, or other purposes. Any former special education student or parent of a former special education student born during the years of 1999-2017 who meet the above criteria and who wishes to obtain their special education records must contact Lauren Smith prior to June 30, 2025 at the Lee County Board of Education, 2410 Society Hill Road, Opelika, Alabama 36804; telephone (334)705-6000.
